The Unloved Lovely Laura Linney

Today's IMDb poll is an abomination. (click to enlarge)

Who are the fools that vote in this poll? There are SO MANY things wrong with it I barely know where to start. 2044 people are "not that familiar" with The Lovely Laura Linney's work? And this is the answer that's leading the poll? And her Love Actually performance (which is good, make no mistake, but hardly the best environment for her superior skills) is the only one challenging it? 854 "don't have an opinion here"? Driving Lessons- easily, oh so easily her worst performance- ABOVE her wonderful, stunning work in Jindabyne?! Are these people on some kind of mind-eroding drugs?

Oh, wait. That's right. Bush is president. It's back to my fantasies, then, where the entire room drops to its knees upon Laura's entrance and isn't allowed to stand until she says so.

Oh, and I want to see John Adams, but obviously I don't have HBO (or indeed a television here, OR a foot on American soil), so I can but hope that something that's probably too American to be picked up over here somehow is. OR that it's shit. But Laura doesn't deserve that. So I'll take option A, please.

Well I suppose we should know by now that IMDb is populated by the young men that the studio's consider their target demographic (how else do you explain Sin City having an 8+ rating).

What I'm really wondering is why over 2000 people felt the need to vote for the "I dunno" choice. It says something about the desire of people to have their voice heard even when they have nothing to say

What did you expect ? imdb is a mainstream site.. and young american men are not really known as smart cookies

It hurts my soul to see Jindabyne perishing away with 0.5% of the vote. Why people who don't know anything about Laura Linney bothered to vote (in droves, mind you) just baffles me.

Well, How do we expect in a nation where some people (especially young 12-30 years old) thinks Paris Hilton is an important hot celebrity, they're more intersting about the new Lindsay lohan and Britney Spears problems than global problems and prefer watch american teen comedies about lesbian kisses, steriotypes, deaths account and physical stupid comedy...

Laura Linney is one of the most talented and hard-working american actresses right now. Most people admire and respect her. I'm her fan since You can count on me...

I'm part of that 0.5% that voted for Jindabyne! Go me.

I too saw these results and just... couldn't handle it.

It's not surprising given Emma Watson tops their Best Actress poll every year.
